To construct a wooden house, there is firstly an old method with pine logs. Secondly there is the real wooden house which uses thick boards piled in the horizontal on their slices (ie beam technique). Then there is timber frame construction (which is not exactly a wooden house because a part is an isolating material which can be made of bricks). As far as we are concerned, we use the technical with beams. Moreover, we really build a house i.e. with high quality in sound and thermal insulation , even better than the traditional detached houses in cinder blocks. For this, we use a double coat of beam, spaced of 15cm.

The double cross in the corner of the wall gives rigidity to the building. The space between the two coat of beam is filled with insulating material injected on the spot. So it is kind of a “sandwich wooden beam wall”. The erection of your wooden house takes about 6 weeks for 2 carpenters.

Our houses are very-well insulated with 15 to 22 cm of insulating material, so it is twice or three times more insulated than standard houses. Moreover, there is no draught or phonic and thermal insulation blemish. The assembly is on the spot. The two coats of beams and the injected insulation material guarantee the perfection of joints !

We don’t made the foundation. You have to discuss with a local mason about this : foundation with garage and/or cellar, slab, or on piling (useful on unlevel or rocky ground). Our houses are created to be on all types of foundations and are delivered on pins (it is the situation the most stringent).

Each module 8x5 m weighs about 3 tonnes. The unit might be moved on request.

The wood is treated spruce. No exotic or valuable wood is used on standard models. Note that German people who are very demanding about environment and quality love wooden houses alike Swedish people.

The length of life of wooden houses are well known because they’ve been built for centuries. Normally used, a wooden house lasts 400 years. For the external maintenance, only some wooden pieces may have to be changed, those in contact with dampness and which may decompose with the years. The external wooden wainscot can be coloured with varnish, paint or lasure like in traditional house, but it’s not necessary. The distressing of the paint and its replacement is just an aesthetic question but does not interfere with the longevity of the wood.

A wooden house isn't more sensitive to fire than a traditional house. Actually materials like plastic floors, carpets and furniture burn easier. Wooden walls don’t burn fast and generate very few toxic fumes. Moreover, an anti-fire system is easy and cheap to install. We recommend to invest in this system as you spare some money with our houses.

Rodents love insulation and thus their eradication is the same in all type of house, so they are to be driven out like anywhere. The treated wood can't be attacked by insects and mushrooms.

The electric plan is to be defined in the articles and conditions of sale, like the precise size of windows and French windows you want. These modifications cost more but are a guarantee to your comfort.

You can require, free of charge, to lightly change the sizes of rooms in order to increase or reduce the living room, bedrooms…

As soon as we leave standard models, it is “tailored-made” models. The possibilities are extremely beautiful and audacious but the study and the achievement increase the cost of the project. In this case, please contact us.
